Chemical Hygiene Plan

UCR's Chemical Hygiene Plan provides guidance on working safety with chemicals in the laboratory, including administrative requirements and responsibilities, general safety precautions, and how to identify hazards and reduce risks associated with chemical use, handling, storage, and disposal in laboratories.

If you have questions, please contact EH&S Chemical Hygiene Officer at (951) 827-5528.

The Chemical Hygiene Plan applies to all laboratories that use, store, or handle potentially hazardous chemicals and all personnel who work in these facilities. The Chemical Hygiene Officer will review and evaluate the effectiveness of the Chemical Hygiene Plan as least annually and update it as necessary. All people working in a laboratory should be aware of the contents in the Chemical Hygiene Plan. Supervisors should have their workers sign an acknowledgement form confirming that they have reviewed the CHP on an annual basis. Signature forms should be kept in the Laboratory Safety Manual for future reference. Version 2024.
